Bachstein Consulting Continues to Lean in on 3D Scanning for Rapid Prototyping

Bachstein Consulting LLC (BC), a leader in firearms defense engineering, continues to utilize and expand their 3D scanning capabilities. This technology transforms their approach to product development, reverse engineering, and data processing.

In today’s product development environment, the use of 3D scanning can be used to capture the exact dimensions of an object, which can highly streamline the creation of a precise digital model. By using laser refraction, a non-invasive and non-destructive process, scanners allow the team to capture precise geometries of any object, while creating a point cloud map with remarkable accuracy.

Reverse engineering continues to be imperative to the function of Bachstein Consulting’s business for many reasons including the creation of technical data packages (TDP) for corresponding products or attempts to replace lost data for clients. This enables their team to analyze and recreate models, systems, and geometries, without original design documentation. This process can streamline the creation of a TDP for parts and/or complete product assemblies in an incredibly time-efficient and therefore cost-efficient manner.

Beyond BC’s use of 3D scanning for drawing creation, the team also can use their scanners to inspect and verify the integrity of parts, expanding their quality control capabilities. This technology also aids in the rapid prototyping of new designs, allowing for quick iterations and modifications.

By integrating 3D scanning into their workflows, Bachstein Consulting not only enhances their engineering capabilities but also drives significant cost savings and while continuing to press for even more efficient rapid prototyping.
