Bachstein Consulting Continues to Advance Their Reputation as Firearm Professionals

Bachstein Consulting LLC, a small arms defense engineering firm, continues to invest in technology and ongoing training to drive innovation, accuracy, and efficiency in their engineering process. These investments provide Bachstein’s engineering team with the advanced tools and knowledge required to rapidly design, develop, and iterate their clients’ new firearms parts, ammunition, weapon platforms, testing and validation systems, and production assembly fixturing.

At the heart of Bachstein’s engineering design technologies lies SolidWorks 3D CAD, an advanced 3D CAD modeling software with extensive capabilities. These capabilities include 3D part and assembly modeling, assembly interference detection, kinematic simulation, stress analysis, advanced surface modeling, engineering drawing tools, and even CNC CAM programming. When design changes are made, the part modifications move seamlessly to the assembly and engineering drawings in a streamlined workflow. SolidWorks gives engineers the ability to rapidly move from part models to assemblies, simulation, and drawings ready for prototyping or production while simultaneously allowing for a focus on DFM (design for manufacturing) and industrial design throughout the development process.

Another critical tool in the development of firearms parts for existing platforms as well measurement and evaluation of new parts and assemblies is Bachstein Consulting’s 3D scanning and scan model software tools. These scanning tools include an automated multi-axis scanner that provides rapid high resolution mesh models of small parts such as firing pins and a larger handheld scanner capable of capturing an entire pistol or rifle assembly. The scanners coupled with advanced mesh modeling software give engineers the ability to quickly compare physical parts to CAD models and measure differences directly in SolidWorks.

Continued development and growth of engineering knowledge and investment in training are core philosophies for Bachstein Consulting and its engineers. These tenets have fostered a healthy training environment where thorough understanding and expert application of ASME’s Y14.5 GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) Drawing Standard has been a critical focus across the team for this year. Bachstein’s emphasis on DFM extends all the way from initial concepts to production, and GD&T is the vital set of engineering drawing tools and concepts that communicates clear design intent for efficient manufacturing in a production environment.

Bachstein Consulting’s combination of experienced firearms engineers, technicians, machinists, and support staff along with ongoing investment in technology, training, and equipment fuels an environment Where Expertise Hits the Target and clients’ ideas become reality.
