CFIP: The Technology Making 3D-Printed Parts Fight Above Their Weight

Continuous Fiber Injection Process (CFIP) is Reinforce3D's patented post-processing technology that strengthens parts by injecting continuous fiber bundles through pre-designed internal channels within a component.

Unlike conventional fiber-filled materials that rely on chopped fibers dispersed throughout a filament, CFIP places continuous fibers exactly where the part experiences the greatest loads. This process enhances parts after they're produced. The result is a stronger, lighter component engineered more like the high-performance composite structures found in aerospace, automotive, and other industries.

Continuous fiber bundles are injected along a component's load path.

Built for load. Not just printed for shape.

This approach allows manufacturers to unlock higher mechanical performance from the equipment they already own while minimizing disruption to established production processes.

A decade in the making: from patent to production line

The foundation for CFIP was developed between 2013 and 2021, when Reinforce3D focused on refining the technology and securing key patents. In 2022, the company officially launched and began showcasing the technology through industrial demonstrations, giving manufacturers their first look at what continuous fiber reinforcement could do.

By 2024, CFIP had moved beyond demonstrations and into the hands of customers, with the first commercial systems installed across multiple industries. The momentum continued in 2025 with the expansion of Reinforce3D's reseller and service partner network, along with the launch of Design Checker software to make designing and validating reinforced parts even easier.

Looking ahead, Reinforce3D is continuing to grow with the development of the DELTA Modular system, new strategic partnerships, and scalable manufacturing solutions designed to make CFIP accessible to even more manufacturers.

CFIP Crosses the Atlantic: Reinforce3D Lands in North America

As Reinforce3D's only North American distributor, Impac Systems Engineering is helping manufacturers evaluate, demonstrate, and implement CFIP technology for production environments.

With over 40 years of experience in additive manufacturing and industrial engineering, ISE works closely with customers to identify applications where continuous fiber reinforcement can reduce weight, improve strength, and extend part performance without requiring significant changes to existing manufacturing infrastructure.

Together, Reinforce3D and Impac Systems Engineering are helping manufacturers rethink what's possible—not by replacing current processes, but by making them stronger.

If you're interested in exploring how CFIP can strengthen your existing parts or expand your manufacturing capabilities, contact Impac Systems Engineering to schedule a consultation or live demonstration. Our team can help you evaluate your applications and determine where continuous fiber reinforcement can deliver the greatest impact for your business.
