HOWARD LAKE, Minn. — Mass Finishing, Inc. is highlighting its HZ-85 Centrifugal Barrel Finishing Machine as a solution for high volume deburring, polishing, burnishing, edge radiusing, and surface finishing of precision metal components.
The HZ-85 is designed to help manufacturers improve part consistency while reducing manual finishing time across a variety of firearm and ammunition applications. The machine's 33.5-inch wide barrels can process components including receivers, trigger assemblies, hammers, sears, safeties, muzzle devices, suppressor components, scope mounts, magazine components, shell casings, bullet jackets, cartridge components, and other precision machined parts.
The HZ-85 produces significantly higher processing forces than conventional vibratory finishing equipment, allowing manufacturers to complete finishing cycles in less time while achieving repeatable surface finishes. The process can improve cosmetic appearance, remove burrs, smooth machined edges, and prepare parts for coating, assembly, or final inspection.
14 divider slots can be found in each barrel. This allows the user to create up to 15 isolated chambers per barrel – 60 separate compartments per cycle. Firearms manufacturers can isolate slides, frames, and barrels all in the same batch. The isotropic finishing process produces an even and consistent appearance that buyers expect in a quality firearm.
In addition to manufacturing equipment, Mass Finishing, Inc. supplies ceramic, plastic, steel, porcelain, and specialty finishing media along with process compounds designed for precision metal finishing. The company's in-house test laboratory works with customers to develop and validate finishing processes before equipment installation, helping manufacturers shorten implementation time and establish repeatable production results, at no charge to the customer.
"Every application is different," said Marci Theisen, General Manager of Mass Finishing, Inc. "Our goal is to help manufacturers develop a proven finishing process before production begins so they can achieve consistent quality and maximize efficiency from day one."
Mass Finishing, Inc. has designed and manufactured industrial finishing equipment in Howard Lake, Minnesota for more than 70 years.
