New investments in advanced glow nitriding technology controls strengths KHT's ability to deliver longer-lasting, higher-performing components
Parts manufacturers today are asking more from the components they produce. Longer service life, greater wear resistance and consistent performance are increasingly critical, requiring thermal parts processors to play a key role in achieving those goals. Kowalski Heat Treating is responding, with continued investment in its KHT K-Glow nitriding process controls, enhancing our capabilities to help customers meet increasingly demanding performance requirements.
K-Glow uses advanced pulsed plasma nitriding technology to create a hard, wear-resistant surface while maintaining the critical properties and dimensions of the underlying component. By carefully controlling process variables, including gas mixture, temperature, pressure, voltage and treatment time, KHT can tailor the process to the requirements of the application.
"Our customers are asking us to help improve the performance of their PIA (pain in the @%$) Jobs! so parts perform better and last longer. We hate failure, especially when it's our customer's parts", said Steve Kowalski, President of Kowalski Heat Treating. "That's why we continue to invest in K-Glow. We're not just adding equipment or technology, we're investing in our superior control systems to deliver the results our customers expect."
The K-Glow process provides increased surface hardness, improved resistance to wear and abrasion, enhanced fatigue performance and longer component life. The controlled, low-temperature process is also well suited to precision components where maintaining dimensional integrity is critical.
KHT's investment is part of the company's broader commitment to solving challenging heat treating applications and helping customers get more performance from their components.
"We've always said that the tough jobs are the ones that make us think," Kowalski added. "Our PIA promise is simple: when you have a PIA (pain in the @%$) Job, bring it to us. We'll do the research, test and retest, work through the variables and find the right solution.
KHT K Glow is particularly suited for demanding applications involving alloy steels, stainless steels, tooling, dies, gears, shafts, molds, hydraulic components and other precision-engineered parts where wear resistance and reliability are critical, perfect for Power Transmission, Automotive, Stamping Dies, Guns/Firearms, Machine Tooling, Gears and Wind/Energy components.
